At Spybey Opticians, we understand how important clear hearing is. In fact, people who experience hearing difficulties often report a loss of clarity rather than a loss of volume. It is not usually about how loud sounds are, but how clearly speech can be heard and understood.
One of the most common causes of reduced hearing and balance is earwax build-up, which is thankfully something we can often help with quickly and effectively.
For patients who need more than earwax removal, we also offer hearing assessments, tinnitus management, and the latest digital hearing aid technology, tailored to individual needs.
Specialist audiology care
Our audiology services are led by Specialist Audiologist Kirsty Davison, who holds a BSc (Hons) in Audiology, is a Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser (RHAD), and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
To us, listening is just as important as treating. Every appointment is bespoke, with hearing care tailored around your lifestyle, budget, and most importantly, your hearing requirements.

- Microsuction earwax removal – no water used, suitable for healthy ears
- Water irrigation wax removal
- Hearing assessments for adults and paediatric patients

- Latest technology digital hearing aids
- Noise protection advice with customised earmoulds and equipment
- Environmental hearing aids, including FM systems
Ear wax removal
Not everyone who experiences hearing difficulties needs a hearing aid. In many cases, a simple earwax removal can significantly improve hearing.
We provide microsuction ear wax removal, an approved and effective technique used in both NHS and private ENT clinics. Microsuction does not use water and is widely recognised as the safest and most effective method of removing earwax.
