Dry eye can be uncomfortable and frustrating, particularly when it affects your day-to-day activities. At our Southwell practice, we offer IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Therapy, a safe and effective treatment that targets the underlying cause of dry eye, not just the symptoms.
IPL works by gently warming and restoring the function of the oil-producing glands in the eyelids, helping your eyes produce healthier, more stable tears.
- Reduces inflammation around eyes and eyelids
- Unclogs and stimulates Meibomium glands
- Improves oil production for a stable tear film
- Decreases abnormal blood vessels
- May reduce harmful bacteria on eyelids
By treating the root cause, IPL treatment can lead to significant improvement in dry eye symptoms, offering relief and better quality of vision.
IPL can also be used to treat Chalazions which are small lumps/cysts that develop underneath the eyelid due to blocked glands.

We are passionate about eye health and dedicated to providing a personalised experience that puts your vision needs first.
We recommend having an eye test every two years. However, if you’re experiencing any changes in your vision or have been advised by your optometrist, you may need to come in more frequently.
Please bring any current glasses or contact lenses, a list of medications you’re taking, and your NHS or insurance details if applicable. If it’s your first visit, any previous prescriptions or medical history can be helpful.
